What can be said, this is a blog where I will post some stuff I really like,so I think you should like it too.I am a metalhead to the heart, but I will put here every kind of stuff I like, not only Metal.I hope you will enjoy it,and let me know if there is anything needed, especially from the ex-Yugoslavia territory.
True are an interesting Death Metal band from Samobor, and the first (and only as far as I know) that uses the Tambourine as instrument in their expression!!Anyway, this is great sounding stuff, very interesting structure of the songs too.I am not sure, but I think this is their only studio material they did,but the band still exists (as the matter of fact,I`ll see them the next weekend live in Varazdin),so we can probably expect some more stuff from them.
Tracks; 01.Church lies 02.Plastic world 03.Whisper of faith 04.Human machine
The biggest Slovenian Heavy Metal band ever,Orange (for this album,on the other albums they are POMARANCA,Orange on slovenian language).Madbringer was the album made for the metalheads outside Yugoslavia and the second band`s album. As far as I remember, the album went good in France, but that was it.It showed again that any Metal band from Yugoslavia can`t do anything bigger outside the country.But,well..this is a very nice one.And it is Heavy Metal.I had the opportunity to see them live in 1983 in Pula`s Arena, promoting this one,and..oh God,it was my first Heavy Metal concert ever!!!I have a souvenir from that show, the whole band`s autographs.
Trivia; There was a funny moment on that concert,at the very beginning of the Pomaranca`s performance, the vocalist came out with a huge axe, raised it,said ; "A Heavy Metal salute:YEAAAAAHHHH!!" and threw the axe to the wooden floor on the stage.Almost in the same moment, practicly the whole stage went out of electricity!!It looked like his axe cut all the cables on stage....

This is a band especially dear to me,the first Croatian Christian Rock band.Glasnici Nade (Messengers Of Hope) is a band of the dominican priest father Anto Bobas (vocal) and his brother Jadranko (he leads the choir in the church of St.Nicholas in Varazdin!).It is a band that doesn`t exist anymore, even I had the opportunity to meet father Bobas last year,it was nice to meet a priest wearing a Kamelot t-shirt!!I received some stuff from the band (not by father Bobas,he gave me a book he wrote,Rock Music And Satanism) from Mika from Hope (thnx bro!) and I will put everything here. This is their first album, and anyway a small part of the Croatian Rock/Metal scene too,so here it is for you.

I know you`re asking yourself now "What the hell is this??"..I already told that I will put here stuff I like, and this album is such thing.I am not,and repeating NOT a fan of Hip-Hop or Rap,but as there is something good in every kind of music,Rap or Hip Hop has his good sides as Public Enemy, partly Eminem,and..ehmm..nothing else..well,here is the Croatian/Bosnian part of that.Edo Maajka is a down-to-earth antirockstar Bosnian guy who`s living in Croatia, and this is his first album. The lyrical part is excellent,Edo is a great songwriter, and all this sounds pretty raw and angry. The music is pretty minimalistic,so it raises this album a level beyond other Hip Hop releases, especially the ones from Croatia.Edo`s live performances are with a live band,so that means that his music gets even harder. For all those who like "strong" Hip Hop....and stop wondering, come on...
Tracks; 01.Intro 02.Slusaj mater 03.Minimalni rizik 04.Rado vidjen 05.Jesmo l` sami 06.Saletova osveta 07.Prikaze 08.Recitacija 09.Mahir i Alma 10.Faca-intro 11.Faca 12.Znas me-intro 13.Znas me 14.Sverc komerc 15.De-za-vu 16.Sank 17.Pare,pare 18.molitva 19.Za i protiv 20.Nemoj se bojat 21.Outro
This is something you must have if you`re a fan of extreme music. This is a new band from Pula, playing a perfectly executed Death Metal.I myself was surprised by the quality of this band, and I have been to their rehearsal room in November 2006,the little I could see there was absolutely stunning, beside the fact that the guys are great friends and totally cool.I am not an exaggerate lover of the extremest Metal, but those guys really kick some f++king teeths off.I will not exaggerate if I say that they are (for my opinion) the best Death Metal band in Croatia.Period.Try it absolutely!!
Tracks; 01.Capitalist values 02.Steps to nowhere 03.Age of deception 04.No on paper 05. 0,00 promile
I was a member of their fan-club in 1995!!!I heard one of their tracks on a Roadrunner compilation, and I was hooked by their Variable Metal-I should call it this way-the skillfullness, the perfection of both playing and production..Really..A friend asked me if I ever heard of a Finnish band..you don`t have to ask what happened anymore;he had to sell me his cd.This album was even better than the track I have heard..Mixing virtually every kind of Metal with virtually every kind of music, plus making it as Metal as they can with preserving the originality of the source..I know,I am bullshitting, but if there is justice, then the Red Hot Chili Peppers should kiss asses to Waltari, believe me.On this album you can even find a Death Metal hidden track at the end of Mysterious (after the silence,blah,blah..)..And what to say about the great cover of The Cure and The Stranglers??...I am not their fan anymore,or better to say;I don`t follow their work anymore, they released dozens of albums, but this one remained for me a true beauty.
Tracks; 01.A new beginning 02.Mad boy 03.So fine 04.A forest (Cure cover) 05.4S 06.Celtic funk 07.(Your) Nature is wild 08.To give 09.Piggy in the middle 10.Freddie Laker (Stranglers cover) 11.Autumn 12.Rhythm is a cancer 13.Misty man 14.Mysterious
So,we have Dissection again (for the new people here,Dissection-the Croatian ones-did two demos and then changed the name into AEON.),and this time we go from the very beginning and here is their first demo,an extremely good beginning.Recorded in the EAR Studio, the legendary studio where most of the bands from Pula recorded their demos.).Played very well, they were one of the first serious bands in Croatia playing Death Metal.Unfortunately, they lasted just few years and then split-up.You should have this one,to document a period of Croatian Metal. And,oh yeah, more Dissection/Aeon to come on this blog..Thanx to Rio666.
Tracks; 01.Left to decay 02.Congest 03.Submit to suffer
I am ashamed for not knowing about this band before..it shows how interested I was in the Croatian Metal scene..well,now I am interested, and I became a fan of this band.I am very happy that in Croatia there is a Christian Thrash Metal band.I received from them their material,so I am glad I can put it here. This is the first of few recordings from Hope I will put here, and this is their first demo, recorded in the rehearsal room,so the execution of the material is purely live and raw.Enjoy this one.And special thanx to Mika for the stuff and the permission!Bog te blagoslovio, prijatelju.
Tracks; 01.I believe 02.The almighty 03.New soul 04.With a smile 05.The Cross (Suffer in serenity) 06.A.D.S. 07.Hope 08.In rememberance
Their first album had an unexpectedly good response on this blog,so I am putting here their second album, released less than a year after the first. This one have a much better production,it is played in exactly the same vein as the first one,and who loved the first one will love this one even more.Bijelo Dugme changed their style through the years from this Hard Rock to a Pop-Rock that I will not put here, even if those poppy albums have an emotional meaning for me.The third album will be here soon too,and that will close the Bijelo Dugme`s Hard Rock trilogy.Oh yes,and if you ask me,this one is the BD`s best album by far.
A nice Punk-Rock,almost Pop-Punk album from a legendary, but totally underrated band. This is their first album, which contains tracks that should have been instant hits.Every song is easily sing-along-able,with a pretty clean (not totally Punky) sound,so a must for all those who like an extremely Melodic Punk`n`Roll.I adore this album.
Tracks; 01.All kindsa girls 02.Solid gold (thru and thru) 03.Rave on 04.Better be good 05.Taxi boys 06.Just like darts 07.She`s allright 08.My baby`s book 09.Roberta 10.Do the boob 11.My way 12.Reggae,reggae
Yeah! This is a cult recording.Pneumonia`s first live show turned into a nightmare. You can hear it throughout the whole show, they were so drunk that the guitarist shortened every phrase or riff in every song,so they hardly catch each other all the way!But anyway,it sounded pretty cool and sounded like a hell of a show,of course a soundboard recording (with Sale from Kud Idijoti on the mix).If I say that the show starts off with the legendary Thrashing Or Die track, that is enough for you to take this show at once.
PS;the pic (the only pic of Pneumonia I`ve found!) is a caricature by an unknown thrasher,I don`t know how it founds the way to me,but it is the only pic I`ve found. PS2;The last track Jimmy has a story;the Fort Bourguignon is a fortress, and it is built as a circle, and on the upper walls there were a homeless guy living called Jimmy (no one knew his name),who got upset with the HC played by Pneumonia,so by the end of the show he started throwing stones on the audience down.So Sale tried to calm him down through the mike.Just for the trivia part;Jimmy was found dead a month later, thrown down from the fortress walls. Here`s the pic of the Fort Bourguignon.
Tracks; 01.Thrashing or die 02.Carlo 03.Pioneer 04.Pneumonia 05.Society scum 06.No way for them 07.The skulker 08.Ultrablues 09.Mortal enemy 10.Equal people (D.R.I. cover) 11.Ribe me grizu 12.Dirty shoes 13.Union 14.Against 15.Jimmy
This one is put here by request;I was asked for Heller, and all I found on my old old tapes were two live recordings. This is one, something like a radio show or so,with a very short interview in Serbian. The recording is from an old tape, even it doesn`t sound that bad.
Disciplina Kicme was one of the best and most inventive acts of the ex-YU (don`t get me wrong, they still exist),they had an unique combination of bass, drums and trumpet/sax+a lot of samples, very danceable and aggressive at the same time.Through the time,DK`s progress runs from an alternative Punk act (at that phase, the band consisted only of bass and drum!!!),to a Jungle/Funky strange mixture. This was their..uhmm..fourth studio album,if I counted well.I am lucky to play as opener act for DK at the promo-show in Pula (the pic is obviously from that show!),and Koja (bass, vocal) nearly produced my band`s first album.Damn war!Enjoy this one!
Tracks; 01.Tata i mama 02.Zeleni Zub 03.Betmen,Mandrak,Fantom 04.Manitua mi 05.Ukus nestasnih 06.Ah,kakva sreca 07.Planeta dosade 08.Iza 9 brda 09.Glas nestasnih 10.Tata i mama 2
F++king insane!!S.O.B.`s EP is amazingly insane,it is the best Grindcore coming from Japan I have heard. As you can see,the band is helped a lot by Napalm Death, they even play a cover here with Lee Dorrian and Shane Embury as guests (and Napalm Death played covers of Raging In Hell and S.O.B. on one of their Peel Sessions). The record is released by Lee Dorrian`s Rise Above Records, but even without all this help,S.O.B. are a hell of an act by themselves!!And the great cover..You should try this.
Tracks; 01.Raging in hell 02.Give me advice 03.Deceiver 04.Don`t turn your back 05.S.O.B. 06.Nightmare 07.No control 08.Luck or die 09.Thrash night
This band hailed from Novi Sad,and had a great story of how they became pretty popular in the ex-YU.Before this album, they released a single with a cover of SITNIJE,SESTRO,SITNIJE (in original Sitnije,Cile,Sitnije) by the folk singer Lepa Brena (the top selling folk singer of all the times),but the single wasn`t sold, but given as a gift with a comic-magazine Stripoteka. The effect was excellent, the magazine was sold out in record time, and it was pretty logical that the album had a great success. It is quite a good album with great tracks spanning from Heavy Blues or ballad to fast (almost) Heavy Metal.I don`t know what they sounded after this album, but this one is recommended.
